FROM THE PASTOR’S PEN

Mark your calendars for some upcoming events at CPC.  Let me give them to you in their order.  First, we have a Valentine banquet on Saturday evening, February 11.  One of our great cooks, Russell Gardner, is doing the cooking this year  He is going to need help from the other men so please step up and lend two helping hands.  We are working on a program that will be something enjoyable for everyone.  A nursery will be provided.  Look for the time in your bulletin.

Secondly, March 9 - 11 we will be hosting our annual Winter Grace Conference with the Rev. John Nyroge, who is on staff with Ravi Zacharias Ministries.  He has chosen a theme of the church impacting the culture.  Begin now to invite your friends, family and neighbors.  We have had and continue to have some of the outstanding theologians who are alive today at these annual conferences.  The Men’s Choir from Sycamore will present some special music during the conference.  Make plans to attend now!

Thirdly, we are making preparations for our Easter Sunday morning service, Sunday, April 8.  The Adult Choir will sing in our morning worship service, accompanied by a brass quartet.  Our Children’s Choir will be singing a new piece.  The day will begin with a sunrise service and breakfast, followed by Sunday School.  The time for the sunrise service will be announced in coming weeks.  These are events you won’t want to miss.

Begin praying as the board for our child care/pre-school begins the work of moving toward an opening date.  There are several inspections that we must have completed and begin to procure all the things needed to run a God-centered ministry of CPC.  Pray for those who will be caring for and instructing the children God gives us the privilege of ministering to each day.

Continue to pray for our Session and Diaconate as they begin the New Year, that God will give us a vision for CPC that will set the stage to prosper the ministry of the Kingdom work in Chester for another 89 years.  Next year we will be celebrating the 90th anniversary of CPC and we need to begin planning for that now, so if you have some ideas, please let your deacons and elders know about them.

Watch for more news about the things God is doing in and through His people at CPC.

                   See you at church,

                               Dan
